Your health care and health insurance choices are critical components of your whole farm plan and should match both your farm and family needs. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution and what will work best depends on your personal, family, and farm goals and situation.

If you currently work off the farm for benefits like health insurance but want to be a full-time farmer, this free online course will help you explore health insurance alternatives. If you work on the farm or are a farm employer, this course will help you determine the best options available to you.

Course topics

  • How health and insurance impact your farm and family.
  • Ways to include health insurance in your farm risk management plan.
  • Health insurance options for you, your family, and/or your employees.
  • Budgeting insurance costs for your household or farm business.
  • Resources to connect health care and insurance with your farm goals.

Through practical examples, worksheets, and decision-making tools, you will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed health insurance choices that support both family well-being and farm success.
