The University of Wisconsin-Madison Division of Extension has officially released the final report summarizing the findings of its 2024 Wisconsin Custom Rate Survey. This final report provides estimates of typical custom rates for common farming operations in Wisconsin.
The rates in this report are based on the 2024 Wisconsin Custom Rate Survey of Wisconsin farmers, farm managers and custom operators.

Custom operations for various farming tasks remain important for modern agricultural practices. However, determining appropriate compensation for these services can be difficult. The final report is based on responses from Wisconsin farmers, farm managers and custom operators with the aim to clarify these rates across a variety of services and operations.
The report provides data on custom land tillage, drilling, seeding, planting, fertilization and chemical application, harvesting, combining, hauling, trucking and other services. You can access the full report on the UW-Madison Extension Farm Management website at go.wisc.edu/WICustomRates24.
To all survey respondents, we are grateful for your participation. We will conduct the 2026 Custom Rates Survey next year. If you would like to be contacted for that survey, please reach out to Silva Gaku, the Extension Farm Financial Management Outreach Specialist at silva.gaku@wisc.edu, 920-342-3180, or go.wisc.edu/silvagaku.
