The University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension is pleased to announce Buffy Uglow as the state’s AgrAbility and Youth Tractor Safety Program Outreach Coordinator. This position is designed to provide outreach and support for programs that promote safety and health for Wisconsin farm businesses. Uglow will drive awareness of the programs and identify opportunities for new program development while creating and supporting partnerships to promote the programs, improving access to farmers and farm families across the state.
The AgrAbility project is a partnership between the University of Wisconsin Extension and EasterSeals Wisconsin, with partial funding provided by the USDA AgrAbility grant. Since 1991, the AgrAbility project has been promoting success in agriculture for farmers and their families living with a farm injury, disability, or medical limitation.
Uglow earned her Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences from UW-Madison, majoring in Animal Science and Life Sciences Communication with a business concentration. With 20 years of experience in agricultural communications and marketing, her passion and skill set for farming and communicating span various sectors. She has provided leadership in her roles in private industry to facilitate relationships with clients, industry experts, media, and other stakeholders to develop mutually supportive promotional strategies in agriculture. Residing on her family’s farm near Watertown, Wis., her proximity to agriculture opportunities has afforded her involvement in exciting promotional initiatives and events such as the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board, Wisconsin Farm to Table, and Cows on the Concourse.
“The AgrAbility and tractor safety programs are integral to the success of many Wisconsin farmers,” says Uglow. “I’m excited to be part of the team that helps support the farm community and utilize my skillset to serve them.”
